Event Invitation - revised
(Bulletin 1)

Finnish Sprint Orienteering Championships (R1 and R2) and a World Ranking Event (WRE) in Helsinki, on Sunday 17th of September 2017.

The invitation is revised 5.8.2017 (highligted in pink) after the publication of the assembly.

Competition area is embargoed and therefore orienteering and any kind of training or preparation for the race with a map is forbidden there. Otherwise access is free. Embargoed area is presented here and on www.karttarekisteri.fi.

It is forbidden to all competitors to enter the competition area from 3rd of September onwards with the following exception:

  • Public transportation (trains P and I, buses 37, 39N and 43) through the area may be used, but stepping out of the train or bus inside the competition area is not allowed.
Classes: H21, H20, H18, H17, H16, H15, H14, D21, D20, D18, D17, D16, D15, D14, H35-H85, D35-D85.

Entry fee: 33,80 euros in all classes

Registration: By 7th of September using IRMA registration system provided by the Finnish Orienteering Federation. No late entries. H/D21 classes: All participants attending WRE must have a valid ID issued by the International Orienteering Federation, more information here.

Punching: Emit. Emit-number must be submitted at the time of registration.

Map: Sprint orienteering map, scale 1: 4000 in plastic cover.

The assembly is Kannelmäki sports park. As parking areas are very limited competitors are kindly asked to use public transportation and cycling on short distances.

Two car parks are located about 1,5 km from the assembly, shopping centre Kaari (navigation: Laulukuja 3) and Kaarelankenttä sports field (navigation: Kaarelan raitti 3)

Trains P and I stop at Kannelmäki station. It is 500 meters from the assembly. Note that Malminkartano station is on the embargoed area. You can't use it.

Note: Tickets will no longer be sold on the train. You must buy your ticket before you enter the train. There are ticket machines available in most stations (except e.g. Vehkala)

The very fast way to enter the assembly is park and ride at Kivisto, Vehkala or Vantaankoski stations. There are plenty of free parking spaces near these stations on Sunday morning.

Stops of bus routes 42 and 43 (Soittajantie) are only 100 meters from the assembly. Besides end stop of bus route 56 is 500 meters from the assembly.

Using bicycle you can reach the assembly very fast, Note that you must approach from Hämeenlinnantie or Kantelettarentie via Vanhaistenpuisto. Other routes pass throught the embargoed area and are strictly forbidden to use. Bicycle parking is just near the assembly.

Starting times: will be published on this website on September 13, 2017.

Qualifications: First start will be at 9.30 am. Starting times will be published on the event pages at the latest on Wednesday 13th September, 2017. Quarantine for all classes closes at 9.30 am. Distance between the event center and quarantine is 800 m. Prestart is located in quarantine, and competitors may leave to go to start 20min before their actual starting time. Starting times and quarantine information for the finals will be published later.

Prize giving ceremonies will take place in two parts. The latest part will start at 4.45 pm. Prizes for women and men in the same age category will be given at the same time.

There are no showers at the event center.

Child care: at the event center. Inform organizers of infants under 1 year.

Open classes: Free starting times between 1.30-2.30 pm. Map 10 euros, under 19 years 3 euros.
